about her
The Offbeat Score is solely created by multidisciplinary artist Kamryn Sur.
Using mainly analog photo and illustration, Sur’s focus is on the multitude of connections we make in a lifetime- with each other, the earth, the unseen/otherworldly.
Sur prefers analog photo to digital, mostly because she enjoys the process and intentionality behind making pictures with film. There’s also an innate cinematic quality to analog photography that she appreciates, using it to create depth and aid in visual story telling. Sur ultimately takes a documentary style approach to the streets of wherever it is she may be, as a somewhat spontaneous solo traveler.
As an illustrator, the process usually includes ink, pastels, scissors and glue. The subject matter combines elements of nature and spirituality, embodied by a feminine form. The drawn collages invite viewers to another realm of imaginative curiosity, knowledge, and reverence for what has created and sustained us.
Across both mediums, her work serves as a mirror to the muses. The regular can be extraordinary. Through the 210mm lens of an Olympus, or the blunt tip of a micron pen, we can see ourselves.
